Changes to the Broken Link Checker

Changes to the Broken Link Checker

The link checker now reviews more of the fields on your site. This means the broken link count and the related broken-link report email are more accurate than before. For some of you, this will result in a higher broken link count score.

We have also modified the link checker so that it no longer checks pages that are in draft mode. It is still a good idea to delete unused pages rather than leave them in draft mode indefinitely, but as a result of this change, some of you will see a lower broken link count score.

And, finally, when we triggered the most recent link email, we had an error in our code. Because of this error, the pages (not events, articles, etc.) with broken links appeared in the email as they should but their "Fix this" links did not work and the URLs we gave for the pages themselves were incorrect. We have fixed this.

Because of these last two changes, we are sending the report email again. Going forward, we will send the email once each month.
