Standard Internship
The standard_internship page template allows sites to display the central CHSS internship information on a page along with their unit-specific details.
There are 3 sets of central content that should be displayed using the standard_internship template. The title of the page determines what content will be displayed.
Understanding Internships
For Students Seeking Internships
For Faculty
Examples of each page can be found on the CHSS Academic Affairs website.
Initial Set-Up
- Create a new section
- Add 3 pages using the exact names listed above
- For each page, select the standard_internship template under Template Settings
- Add your unit specific content using the main content and additional text areas. For the main content, we recommend adding specific information about internship experiences students have had. Here is an example from the CHSS Academic Affairs page:
CHSS students have had exciting internships with the following organizations:
- Fairfax County's Department of Family Services
- Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond
- Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center | National Air and Space Museum
- Urban Institute
- Library of Congress
For the side bar, we recommend adding the following unit specific contact information:
Meet with your academic advisor
[Link to your unit's advising contact information (including name and optional pronouns)]
Talk to your department internship coordinator
[Link to your unit's internship coordinators contact information (including name and optional pronouns)]
Enroll in an internship for credit
[Link to your unit's process for enrolling in an internship for credit]
Custom Images
The Understanding Internships template comes with three default images, one located at the top-left, one at the bottom and one in the sidebar. If a unit has a custom image they would like to use instead, they can upload it using the Page Image upload tool. The image can be positioned in any of the predefined positions except for "Top". On the Understanding Internships page, the custom image will take the place of the top-left and bottom default images. Custom images should be high quality images that represent the internship experience in the unit.
