Managing Sign Content
Individual items you post on signs are called “bulletins.” When you add, update, and delete bulletins, remember that you are working in a shared environment. We are all working in the same system and, in many cases, we want to have our bulletins appear on each other’s signs. We can make this more manageable for everyone by following a few conventions regarding how we name our bulletins, how we share them, and how we delete them.
Creating a Bulletin
- Log into https://horizonhall.carouselsignage.net/
- Select your zone (e.g. Main Area-6100)
- Click “New Bulletin”
- Choose your template
- Edit the bulletin name using the following naming convention month-year created - bulletin name - your name - your unit (e.g. 10/2022 - Word Wall Ad - Danny, CHSS)
- Add the month and year the bulletin was created. This helps with future cleanup and management of bulletins.
- Use a name that describes your bulletin, especially if your bulletin is just an uploaded image. This will help with accessibility.
- Include your name and unit. This will help us know who to ask if there is a question about a bulletin.
- Edit the bulletin’s contents.
- Schedule a date on which the bulletin will be unpublished:
- Click the schedule arrow
- Turn off “always active”
- Set an end date
- Click “Publish” to publish your bulletin
Adding a Bulletin to Other Signs
If you see main zones for the other signs on your zone menu:
- Click the copy button on your bulletin
- Set “create linked copy” to “yes”
- Select the other signs on which you want your bulletin to appear
- Click the copy button
- Send a message to the Sign Managers team. Something like, "I have submitted a slide about [subject] to [all, some of] the signs. Please approve it. It has an end date of [date]."
If you do not see the zones in your menu, ask your suite contact to add the bulletin to other signs.
Deleting a Bulletin
When deleting a linked bulletin, it is easy to accidentally delete someone else’s work.
- If you delete a linked bulletin that is not yours, choose “no” when it asks if you want to delete all copies.
- If you delete a linked bulletin that was created by you or by someone else in your suite, delete all linked copies.
- Do not delete every bulletin. If you have no content you wish to post and all of your content is old, add a bulletin using the "background only" template. This will fill the area with an image that will complete a seamless background across the entire sign.
