CHSSWeb Link Checker

CHSSWeb's link checker scans each site's content once a month, detects broken links, provides editors with a way to review and fix those links.

If the system has detected broken links on your site, you will see an icon in the upper right-hand corner: a link with a number:

Clicking on that link will take you to a listing of all broken links by content type:

The "Fix Error!" button will take you to the edit page for the item. If you do not have edit rights for the item, you will need to contact an editor for the item's originating site. Or talk to the CHSSWeb team. The "Ignore Link" button will tell the system to ignore the link for three months, after which it will again be counted as a broken link.

This link checker can be very helpful but it can also find false positives. Sites detect our system's scans and may decide they do not want us scanning them. Also, the bot may miss links since it is not reviewing our pages as an outsider but is instead looking at each piece of content and finding links. Despite these weaknesses, it has a big advantage over other link checking tools in that it connects you directly to the item that contains the broken link. It makes it easy for you to fix a broken link.
