Event Audiences
Site editors may choose to designate events for a specific audience. Currently, there are two audience designations available; Alumni and Future Students.
Event audiences differ from event categories in two key ways. First, an audience can be applied to an event that is categorized on one website but no another. Second, an audience tab can display events from different categories. This provides websites the additional flexibility to display a list of events for these audiences regardless of which category they are in.
While site editors can select an audience for an event, one or both of the audience displays must be enabled on their website for the audience tab to appear under their events menu. If you would like to use this feature, please contact us.
An event can have either the Alumni or the Future Students audience set, but not both.
Alumni Audience
Editors can designate an event that may be of interest to alumni by checking the Alumni may be interested in this event box on the event form. Checking that box does the following:
- Includes that event on a nightly report that the college's Development and Alumni Relations group receives.
- Displays the event under the Alumni navigation tab under the Events menu for websites that have enabled the alumni audience display.

Even if your website does not use the alumni audience configuration, you can still designate an event for alumni and the websites that event is shared with that do use the alumni audience, such as the college website, can display it.

Future Students Audience
Editors can designate that an event is for future students by checking the Future students may be interested in this event box on the event form. Since some events may be specific to either future undergraduate or future graduate students, editors can further refine this audience designation by selecting either Graduate Student or Undergraduate Students from the selection box. Selecting the Future Students audience for an event does the following:
- Displays the event under the Future Students navigation tab under the Events menu for websites that have enabled the future students audience display.
- In the Mason 2022 theme, a label for Graduate Students or Undergraduate Students will be displayed on the event card, when viewed in the future students list.

Even if your website does not use the future students audience configuration, you can still designate an event for future students and the websites that event is shared with that do use the future students audience, such as the college website, can display it.
