Deactivating a Student Profile

When entering a profile for a student, you should provide an anticipated graduation date. To keep the profiles of students relatively current, the profiles application automatically changes the status of students one year after the graduation date.

For example, students with a graduation date of 2011 remain visible until January 2012. Students with a graduation date of 2012 remain visible until January 2013 and so on. Once the date has passed, the student status will change from Student to Pending. The system will send an email about this change to the website contact.

You can update the profile to reflect alum status, if appropriate and the profile content is still relevant and timely. 

To update the status, first find and edit the profile in CHSS Web:

  1. Select Academics, in the left column
  2. Select Student/Alumni profiles
  3. Use the filters or search to locate the profile you would like to associate for example: 
    • In the Search Profiles box, type in the last name
  4. Select the edit link next to the profile you want to edit

When the Edit Profile window opens:

  1. Scroll down to the profile's Associated Programs
  2. Select the desired status in the dropdown menu 

If a student has graduated and the content on the profile page is still relevant and timely, you can change the student's status from Student or Pending to Alumnus to display this profile on the program's Meet an Alum page.
